Last Friday we watch the final fireworks show of the year for Montreal's International Fireworks Competition. We had an unexpected visitor join us near the grand finale. A preying mantis landed on my shoulder. I initially felt a bug on my face and swept it off. Then my kids noticed it landed on my shoulder. I put my fingers out, and it crawled onto them. It stayed with us for several minutes. It seemed to be doing a dance on my fingers and we all got a good laugh watching. Then as it was time for us to go, it hopped off! I remember reading that if a preying mantis pays you a visit, it is good fortune.
